Finding an Outlet — Rugby, Bodybuilding & Addiction

Rugby gave me my first taste of freedom. On the pitch, I could channel my anger, energy and frustration into something positive. Later, bodybuilding became another outlet. I wanted to feel strong, respected, and in control.

But with sport came temptation. Steroids promised faster results, and weekends brought drinking and ecstasy with friends. At the time, it felt like I was living the best days of my life, no trouble in the world, just good times. But underneath, I was masking the pain and fear from my past.

When Escape Turns to Risk

According to Public Health England, around 275,000 people in the UK are in contact with drug and alcohol services each year, but countless more never seek help.
